Canada

As a movement in Canada and the USA FNE are small and largely unknown to potentially interested families and adults within the church and general  community. People at first glance easily get scouts confused with other youth organizations that offer a very different program experience while as they adhere to and embrace current values and norms prevalent within society. With these challenges and obstacles in mind it FNE created a NEW NATIONAL WEB SITE for their program for families who are looking for a counter cultural proven program experience for their children that is fully intertwined with our Catholic faith as to our values, beliefs and practices. They have attempted to convey to web users an alternative option and program for their children and like-minded adults including those who may be interested in assuming a leadership role through their web site located at www.fneexplorers.com.

I am really grateful for the privilege I had to greet the Holy Father on behalf of you all, to ask him to pray for us and to assure him of our prayer.

As a sign of union of prayer, I gave him the booklet « with the grace of God ». I also told him that this booklet had been conceived by father Ivan Žužek, sj, for the prayer of all our boys and girls, male and female leaders.

The Pope told me that he knew and appreciated scouting; he also told me that he had named as his successor in Buenos Aires precisely the religious adviser of the Argentine scouts.

Really, Pope Francis takes you! (He says that it is Jesus who does this.) I will tell you more later about my emotions.

Let’s meditate thoroughly the Pope’s words: a clear and sure track to follow for the Association, with the whole Church.

Buona strada! Peppe, Chairman of the Italian association

Buona strada! Peppe, Presidente dell’ associazione italiana

During one of the beautiful May weekends, from Friday evening to Sunday evening

(10-12.05.2013), boy cub scouts Big Game (Wielkie Lowy) took place in Rembertów, near Warsaw. 130 cub scouts and 30 chiefs from packs all around Warsaw participated. It was a long-expected event – not only by the boys, but also by all the chiefs, the Old Wolves.

Great weather, wonderful humors. A football game, games using lines and balls, singing songs, eating spaghetti, a first aid course, archery, line climbing, sack races, long jump, preparing the feast, campfires – these are only some of the elements of every cub scout’s daily joy. As some sort of attraction – an opportunity to go inside and watch a firetruck; there was a really big interest in that. Every pack’s special moments weren’t missing either – the ceremonies of giving a star to some cub scouts, gaining new badges, or Council Rocks.

Polish cub scouts say to you “Our best!”

“If I come to the end of this road, I join the Fire of St. Petersburg” – said a 17 year old that participated in the pilgrimage for the first time.

It’s been four years since the ranger guides and the Russian Rovers (ORIUR) go on pilgrimage.
The first took place in 2010, about 20 young people from St. Petersburg, Kursk, Petropavlovsk-Kamtchatskii gathered for the first road to the famous monastery of Kursky.

This year’s decision: try a new route – in Belarus. The country is a treasure of Christian relics. The choice fell on the Monastery of St. Efrossinya near Polotsk.
The road brought together 40 participants from St. Petersburg, Moscow, Slantsi, Petropavlovsk Kamchatskyi. The ranger guides and the Belarusian scouts came together for a day. Everyone was delighted to go with the Belarusian brothers and sisters, even if it was short.

Participants this time were very different: girls and boys, who came up from the fire or the clan, but also older rangers and scouts who already have 2-3 or even 4 children … Some new people acquainted with the Russian Association also came on this road. This mix of ages and experiences was very rewarding.

The program was pretty intense: moments of training, prayer, explorations, priests to explain the Holy Word, one hour of daily discussion after lunch (each team chose discussion topics beforehand and fire chiefs and clans told small stories about the topics in question). And of course – every night – the joy of singing and the atmosphere of an evening around a camp fire!

As with all Scout marches, there were many surprises: a storm, finding a village party with people in traditional costumes of the early twentieth century, a warm Belarusians welcome when passing through the villages … And on the last day the most difficult part: a long walk and arriving at dusk to the monastery. Many no longer felt their feet … but they were happy and satisfied to have arrived! All were able to participate in the liturgy of the day.

The following route will take place from August 14-18, 2013. It will be a walk to the monastery Pskovo-Pecherskyi which was founded in the sixteenth century. All clans and fires from all countries are welcome (contact).

A big thank you from the Russians Guides and Scouts from Belarus, especially to the two Pavels, Tania and Olga for helping to get this project done.
